TONSILLITIS

Tonsils are the lymph adenoid tissue of the pharynx and is nature's barrier to bacterial invasion. Inflammation and hypertrophy of those lymph adenoid tissue is called as tonsillitis.


Causes of Tonsillitis


1) A certain type of hypertrophy is common in early childhood between 4-14
2) Tonsils contain tortuous crypts, which extend throughout the tonsillar substance to the external capsules. These crypts can harbor pus and microorganisms
3) Infections – especially because of Streptococcus pyogenes
4) Damp climate


Symptoms of Tonsillitis


1) Impaired hearing due to obstruction of Eustachian tubes
2) Fever
3) Sore throat
4) Enlarged lymph node around neck


Investigations for Tonsillitis


1) Haemogram


Therapeutic considerations for Tonsillitis


1) Warm salt water gargling
2) Avoid fried food, cold drinks, ice creams
3) Fruits should be washed thoroughly to avoid pesticides before eating
4) Regular exercise reduces tonsillar swelling
5) Basil leaf juice

 Ayurveda approach for Tonsillitis


 According to Ayurveda this is predominantly KAPHA and VATA disorder, this is a non-surgical disease which can be completely cured with the help of ayurvedic medicines and diet. Therefore, ayurvedic medicines are strongly recommended for this problem.
