It is a chronic granulomatous swelling of one of the meibomian glands of eyelids and inflammation of the surrounding tissues.
Causes
1) Uncorrected refractive errors
2) Chronic blepharitis
3) No obvious cause could be found sometime
Symptoms
1) Development of a painless nodule in the lid few mm away from its margin
2) It may become as big as pea
3) Occasionally secondary infection causes pain and irritation
Therapeutic consideration
1) Personal hygiene especially eye hygiene
2) Correction of refractive errors
3) Hot fomentation
4) Treat allergic rhinitis
5) Improve nutrition or chronic sinusitis if any
Ayurveda approach
According to ayurveda this is predominantly a KAPHA disorder with mild involvement of VATA and PITTA doshas afterwards. But if ayurvedic medicines are taken with diet control, can completely cure this problem without any trace. Therefore, ayurvedic medicines are strongly recommended for this problem.
