1) Age related decline in striatal neurotransmitter neurons
2) Free radicals
3) Environmental toxic factors (carbon monoxide, manganese, drugs)

Symptoms
1) Disorders of movement – tremours, postural instability, slow movements
2) Rigidity of muscles especially of limbs
3) Voice volume is reduced and speech becomes hurried, monotonous
4) Handwriting becomes gradually smaller tremulous and cramped
5) Constipation, disturbance of micturation
